Super Pop Takes on Mount Whitney

Super Pop Takes on Mount Whitney

That's correct, Super Pop is going into the wild to climb the continental United States tallest point at Mount Whitney standing 14,505ft high above the earth’s surface.

Hello, co-founder Jeremy here and I am putting myself and Super Pop to the test. A friend applied for the 3rd year in a row and landed a spot for early June to climb Mount Whitney and invited me along. I haven’t hiked, camped and/or backpacked for years… not since I was kid. Well at least not since our kids arrived... Melissa and I took a couple adventures to Zion in Utah and Glacier National Park in Montana for some epic hiking. So, with a year of being locked up worried about getting sick, it’s a perfect time to go into the wild, get outdoors, unplug and get some fresh air.

It has been an incredibly tough year worrying about COVID, our health, state of our business and watching life as we once knew it rapidly change. Our mission here at Super Pop is to help feed a more healthy future with our plant based snacks but also through our own actions of fitness and health. Having grown up in times where weekend hikes were more normal then hanging out on devices, it's a perfect time to get back to the roots and come out of lock up with a bang.

As I write this we are about 3 weeks out and I only got the invite a little over one month ago! Luckily I took advantage of the lock down to increase my fitness over the past year running, biking and lifting weights. Also we plan to do the 20+ mile hike over the course of 3 days, 2 days up and 1 day down. This should help but I don’t know what I don’t know. Concerns I have are the possible high altitude effects, upsetting any bears and/or getting stuck in a storm.
